Here are the proposed elementary school grandfathering rules, to utilize new school capacity and meet State mandated class-size reduction for grades K-3:

• Elementary school students who experience an assignment change as a result of this enrollment proposal, and are rising into grade 5, are eligible to request a transfer that would allow them to “grandfather” at their current assignment. These requests will be approved.

• Grandfather requests are transfer requests that can be made through the School Transfer process.

• Grandfathered students will not receive district transportation.

• Siblings of eligible grandfather students are not eligible to grandfather.

Here are the proposed middle and high school grandfathering rules:

Students who experience an assignment change from an existing school to an existing school:

• All current students in 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 grades are eligible to request a transfer to “grandfather” at their current assignment. These requests will be approved.

• Siblings of eligible grandfather students are not eligible to grandfather.

• Students who request to grandfather are transfer students and no transportation will be provided.

Students who experience an assignment change from an existing school to a new school:

• Only students rising into grades 8, 11 and 12 only are eligible to request a transfer to “grandfather” at their current assignment. These requests will be approved.

• Siblings of eligible grandfather students are not eligible to grandfather.

•Students who request to grandfather are transfer students and no transportation will be provided.

• Grandfather requests can be made through the School Transfer process and grandfathered students will not receive district transportation unless they are in grades 11 and 12 and assigned to a new high school.

Please leave your feedback about these proposed rules in the comments below.
