• This schedule shortens the day by 20 minutes to align the schedule with other academic changes.

• This change aligns the school's bell schedule with other elementary schools.

• This change aligns the school's bell schedule with other elementary schools.
• It will also change the school's schedule so that it does not coincide with rush hour traffic.

On Tuesday, March 1, the Wake Board of Education considered a recommendation to change the bell schedule for Knightdale High. The proposed schedule: 7:25 a.m. to 2:18 p.m.

• This change aligns the school's bell schedule with other high schools.
• Under the current schedule, student athletes lose classroom time when they compete against other schools because they have to leave early. 
• In addition, the revamped programs at Knightdale High require that students take part in opportunities and afterschool activities in the afternoon. The earlier start time will allow more students to participate in those activities.

• This change accommodates the Apex Friendship High School grade expansion and aligns the bell schedule with other middle schools.
